Job Description

Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a respected nonprofit, faith-based organization headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. With a mission centered on honoring God by enriching the lives and touching the hearts of older adults, PHS stands as one of the nation’s largest providers of senior housing and services. Established in 1955, PHS has a long-standing reputation for innovation and excellence in senior care, housing, and community services. The organization operates over 60 affiliated senior living communities across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, serving more than 41,800 older adults annually. In addition to senior living communities, PHS co-owns Genevive, the largest geriatric primary care practice in Minnesota, which serves over 15,500 older adults with comprehensive health care services. PHS prides itself on its commitment to promoting independence, purposeful living, and holistic well-being for seniors, making it a leader in the sector focused on compassionate, high-quality care.

Waverly Gardens, one of the communities under the PHS umbrella, is nestled on a serene ten-acre parkland in North Oaks, MN, just 15 miles north of St. Paul. The community combines old world charm with modern luxurious amenities, creating a vibrant and welcoming environment for residents. Waverly Gardens offers a continuum of care options, including Assisted Living, Assisted Living with Memory Care, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Care Center/Long Term Care services. This community prides itself on fostering a close-knit, purpose-driven team focused on supporting and empowering older adults to lead vibrant, satisfying lives. Employees at Waverly Gardens benefit from a supportive workplace culture that encourages growth and professional development, in addition to enjoying amenities such as off-street parking, discounted meals, free fitness center access, and employee recognition events.

The role available at Waverly Gardens is that of a Full-Time Dining Room Supervisor, offering a meaningful opportunity for individuals passionate about service and care. This position primarily operates Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with occasional weekend hours as required. The Dining Room Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing meal preparation and service, ensuring the highest levels of food quality and customer satisfaction in alignment with established menus, health regulations, and organizational policies. Key responsibilities include assisting with menu planning, maintaining meticulous meal documentation, and participating in resident care conferences to align services with resident needs.

Ideal candidates will possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to those who have completed a food service supervisor course or hold a Certified Dietary Manager certification. Experience in food service — whether in restaurant, healthcare, or senior service settings — is necessary, alongside knowledge of state and federal food-handling regulations including Serve Safe Certification. Successful applicants will demonstrate flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, coworkers, and visitors. This role is a unique blend of leadership, service, and community-focused work, perfectly suited for someone who values working in a faith-based, mission-driven environment.

Compensation for this role falls within the estimated starting pay range of $25.46 to $27.41 per hour, influenced by factors such as experience and qualifications. Benefits for full-time employees include comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance coverage, employer contributions to HSAs, retirement plans with matching, holiday pay, extended sick leave, paid time off, and more. Employees working between 20 and 29 hours per week are also eligible for benefits like vision insurance, voluntary disability coverage, accident and hospitalization insurance, and education assistance programs. All employees have access to same-day pay, employee assistance programs, college educational discounts, and wellness resources.

Joining PHS and Waverly Gardens means becoming part of a vibrant community rooted in Christian ministry values, prioritizing empowerment, education, and a culture of care and compassion. The organization fosters an environment where diversity is celebrated and all applicants receive equal consideration, making it an inspiring place to build a meaningful career serving older adults.
