The Nutrition & Culinary Services Director role at Presbyterian Homes & Services - Highland Path is a vital leadership position responsible for overseeing the planning, organizing, developing, and evaluating of the Nutrition & Culinary Services team and program. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality meals and dining services that are consistent with regulatory requirements and established best practices. Reporting to the Site Leader, the director will directly supervise Nutrition & Culinary Services staff including supervisors, cooks/chefs, and servers, while managing contracted services within the program.
The director plays a strategic role in the site leadership team to plan and implement strategies assuring high-quality customer meals and successful dining service delivery. They help achieve both short and long-term operational goals, focusing on creating positive dining experiences that promote resident independence, choice, and well-being.
Key responsibilities include overseeing meal preparation and service aligned with established menus, regulations, policies, and procedures. The director will regularly solicit and incorporate customer feedback to enhance meal quality and satisfaction. They develop nutritious, attractive menus and recipes tailored to customer preferences and ensure accurate meal documentation. Furthermore, they establish effective communication systems with customers to support dining program participation and satisfaction. The role also emphasizes encouraging resident participation in dining activities and managing the entire dining process to ensure excellence.
This position offers a competitive salary range from $61,277 to $76,565 annually, reflecting qualifications and market conditions. It qualifies for full-time benefits eligibility at a minimum of 30 hours weekly, providing employees with comprehensive health, dental, life insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and educational assistance programming among other advantages. Job Requirements
- Enrolled in or a graduate of a dietary manager course with current state certification
- Current food safety certification
- Three to five years leadership experience in food service
- Demonstrated competencies in food service management and operations, quality management, staff development, cooking, clinical nutrition for the elderly, and community outreach
- Flexibility and personal integrity
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups including residents, coworkers, family members, visitors, and the general public
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and philosophies

Job Duties
- Oversee the meal preparation and service based on established menus, regulations, established policies, procedures and best practices
- Assist with the meal process as necessary
- Regularly solicit customer feedback and incorporate solutions regarding the quality and satisfaction with meals served into meal and service planning
- Develop menus and recipes that are attractive, nutritious and palatable with a focus on customer requests/satisfaction
- Maintain and monitor accurate meal documentation records per established procedures
- Establish and maintain effective communication systems with all customers
- Create a positive dining experience for customers that promotes their independence, choice and overall well being
- Encourage resident participation in the dining program and meal activities
- Oversee the entire dining process for all customers
- Participate in the planning and implementation of strategies and programming that assure high quality customer meals while achieving short and long-term operational goals and objectives for the site
