The role of the Nurse Manager at Abrazo Surprise Micro-Hospital is a critical leadership position responsible for the single or multi-department management of daily nursing operations. This role involves directing, supervising, orienting, training, and evaluating nursing staff to maintain high standards of patient care. The Nurse Manager enforces all policies, procedures, and operational standards while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position may include budgetary and fiscal accountability, requiring the manager to participate in budget development, monitor expenses, and manage resources effectively. The Nurse Manager also manages staffing schedules, timekeeping approvals, employee evaluations, supply orders, and strategic planning for the department.

As part of delivering individualized, comprehensive nursing care, the Nurse Manager ensures all patient physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and educational needs are met through sound clinical practice based on the nursing process. The role includes establishing mechanisms to monitor customer service performance and implementing corrective measures when necessary. Leadership duties extend to ethical issue resolution, including clinical concerns, sexual harassment complaints, and physician/nurse relations, while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Qualified candidates must hold a nursing degree from an accredited institution or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have at least 3-5 years of clinical experience in Medical/Surgical and telemetry nursing, alongside a minimum of 2 years of management experience. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Arizona is mandatory, along with certifications in CPR and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). A Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
