Job Description

Delray Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a prestigious 536-bed acute care hospital situated on a sprawling 30-acre campus. Serving southern Palm Beach County for over 40 years, the hospital boasts a staff of over 1,700 employees and 700 physicians dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to the community. This facility functions not only as a community hospital but also as a state-designated Level I Trauma Center. It offers a wide range of specialized services including advanced cardiac and vascular care, orthopedics, neurosciences, emergency care, and weight-loss surgery. Furthermore, Delray Medical Center houses Pinecrest Rehabilitation and Outpatient Hospital, the only state-designated brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation program in Palm Beach County, and Fair Oaks Pavilion, a 53-bed adult psychiatry unit.

We are currently seeking a Clinical Manager for the Emergency Department and Off Campus Emergency Department. This full-time, day-shift role offers up to $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, paid over 24 months. As the Clinical Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the operational and clinical management of these departments, including staffing and scheduling, department-specific education, orientation and onboarding, performance evaluations, and policy development. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Tenet policies and implementing and revising department throughput and patient flow strategies. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will facilitate communication between inpatient departments, physicians, and ancillary services to address care and quality issues effectively.

In addition to managing daily operations, the Clinical Manager will analyze key performance indicators such as length of stay, avoidable days, and disputes, and use this data to improve Emergency Department metrics. The position demands a proactive leader who can enforce compliance with policies and regulations governing the Emergency Department's functioning. This role reports to the Administrative Nursing Director and requires skills in leadership, communication, and team coordination. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of nursing services, quality improvement processes, and Joint Commission standards, backed by clinical expertise and managerial experience.

The Clinical Manager also provides guidance and supervision to nursing personnel, ensuring appropriate staffing and scheduling, overseeing performance evaluations, and fostering an environment conducive to professional development and educational growth. This role supports peer review, evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care, and participates actively in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making. Accountability for quality service delivery and involvement in recruitment, selection, and staff retention are also key responsibilities. The Clinical Manager will participate in financial planning and budgeting for their area and engage nursing staff in evaluative research activities to continually advance care standards.

Educational requirements include a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field, with a preference for a Master’s Degree. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in a clinical specialty, one year in a supervisory or management capacity, and a working knowledge of quality improvement processes. Certifications required include a Florida RN license, AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, with TNCC and ENPC certifications required within 18 months of hire and CEN certification preferred. Managerial experience with the ability to relate to a diverse staff is essential.
