Job Description
Delray Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a well-established 536-bed acute care hospital located on a spacious 30-acre campus. Serving southern Palm Beach County for more than 40 years, it stands as both a community hospital and a state-designated Level I Trauma Center. With a dedicated workforce of over 1,700 employees and 700 physicians, Delray Medical Center offers a broad spectrum of specialized healthcare services. These areas include advanced cardiac and vascular care, orthopedics, neurosciences, emergency care, and weight-loss surgery. Additionally, the facility encompasses the Pinecrest Rehabilitation and Outpatient Hospital, recognized as the only state-designated brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation program in Palm Beach County. The campus also hosts the Fair Oaks Pavilion, a 53-bed adult psychiatry unit, reinforcing its commitment to comprehensive patient care across various medical disciplines.
The hospital emphasizes its status as a critical community healthcare provider, supporting a diverse patient population and fostering an environment of excellence and innovation. At Delray Medical Center, team members are valued not only for their professional skills but also for their dedication to improving patient outcomes and enhancing community health.
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse position at Delray Medical Center plays a pivotal role in maintaining the clinical and administrative functions of the emergency department. This full-time, day-shift role encompasses responsibilities such as organizing, developing, directing, and ensuring the delivery of cost-effective, quality patient care. The nurse acts as a leader and key member of the multidisciplinary team, upholding corporate and hospital policies, Federal and State regulations, and standards set forth by The Joint Commission (TJC) and the American Nurses Association (ANA). The position demands a comprehensive approach to patient care, including assessment, planning, interventions, and evaluation. Integral to this role is educating patients and their significant others about healthcare needs to support informed and effective care processes.
Candidates for this role must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field, with a Master's Degree preferred in Nursing, Education, Management, or a related area, or demonstrate equivalent competencies. Certification in the specialty area is advantageous. The role requires a minimum of five years of nursing experience, with three to five years preferred in emergency nursing settings. Clinical and administrative practice skills are critical, paired with a working knowledge of quality improvement processes and adherence to TJC standards. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida and current certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and PALS are mandatory. Additional preferred qualifications include Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credentials.
Delray Medical Center prides itself on supporting its staff through competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match, generous paid time off, career development, and continuing education opportunities. Additional support comes through health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependents, an employee assistance program, discount programs, and optional voluntary benefits such as pet insurance, legal insurance, accident and critical illness coverage, long-term care, elder and childcare, as well as auto and home insurance. Eligibility for these benefits may vary based on employment status and location.
Joining Delray Medical Center means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive team committed to delivering outstanding patient care and operational excellence. The hospital fosters an environment that encourages professional growth, innovation, and meaningful contributions to the health and wellbeing of the community. This Emergency Department Registered Nurse role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced healthcare professional to lead, educate, and make a positive impact within a renowned trauma and community hospital setting.
