The role open at Georgetown University Hospital is for a leadership position that oversees all aspects of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell acquisition and transplantation services. The position manages the Blood and Marrow Collection Program, which is affiliated with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). This program is responsible for procuring blood and marrow cells from unrelated volunteer donors in response to requests from numerous transplant centers domestically and internationally. This critical role serves as a clinical resource for bone marrow transplantation collection practices and training, both within the hospital and externally to affiliated institutions. A key responsibility of the role includes close collaboration with medical directors to ensure the highest quality of clinical care and cell products is consistently provided. The position leads efforts to obtain and maintain accreditation by the Foundation for Accreditation for Cellular Therapies (FACT), which ensures adherence to rigorous industry standards. It also prepares the program for regulatory audits conducted by bodies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The position requires a robust understanding of the applicable laws, regulations, policies, and quality standards governing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and marrow collection. The manager will oversee compliance with regulatory bodies and act as a liaison with organizations such as the Department of Defense (DOD), National Cancer Institute (NCI), and other key stakeholders involved in stem cell collections and transplant operations. The candidate will help develop operational plans in partnership with cancer research centers, hospital administration, and coordinate program development that aligns with the hospital's strategic objectives, including the integration of Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) programs.

Further responsibilities include supervising the collection and maintenance of program data for accreditation and regulatory reporting, managing training programs funded by government grants, and ensuring all clinical protocols, consents, and collaborative agreements are current and compliant with institutional and regulatory standards. This position also facilitates communication and coordination with external transplant centers for stem cell transfers and collaborates closely with clinical labs for human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing on transplant candidates and related donors.
