Job Description
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center (PBGMC) is a prominent 199-bed acute care hospital located in Palm Beach County, Florida. As part of the Palm Beach Health Network, the largest health care network in Palm Beach County, PBGMC has served the community for over 50 years with a commitment to delivering exceptional medical care. The hospital has a pioneering history, being the first in the county to perform open-heart surgery and continues to lead in advanced cardiac care. Beyond its cardiac expertise, PBGMC provides award-winning stroke care, advanced neurosurgery, urology, orthopedics, and cutting-edge robot-assisted and minimally invasive surgical techniques. It also offers specialized services such as bloodless medicine and a 24-hour emergency room, catering comprehensively to the healthcare needs of the Palm Beach and Treasure Coast communities.
This clinical position is for a full-time, day shift Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) role, focusing on enhancing quality and patient experience hospital-wide. The ANM will play a crucial leadership role by engaging directly with patients and their families to ensure consistently excellent care throughout the hospital. This role requires directing and supervising the execution and completion of patient care needs and any supplemental services that enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes. The ANM will also implement, educate, and enforce compliance with hospital policies, procedures, standards, and regulations, emphasizing patient safety for all personnel, patients, medical staff, and visitors to guarantee high-quality patient care delivery.
A significant responsibility of this role is to design and lead a comprehensive customer service program for PBGMC. The focus will be to achieve industry-leading patient customer service and improved patient experience as measured by Patient Experience and HCAHPS scores. The ANM will establish systematic approaches to positively resolve customer-related issues and complaints, including the use of tracking mechanisms that identify problems and ensure timely resolution. Additionally, the Assistant Nurse Manager will provide administrative support to staff during the absence of managers or directors, coordinate quality patient care alongside other disciplines, and facilitate effective patient placement and throughput.
Collaboration is key in this position, as the ANM will work closely with Unit Shift Managers to provide guidance daily, support hospital and department policies, intervene in human resource concerns, and participate in disciplinary actions as necessary. This role also involves helping manage staff licensure and certification renewals, scheduling to meet unit needs effectively, minimizing reliance on agency personnel, and reviewing specialty bed uses to prevent falls and pressure ulcers. Regular rounds in patient rooms will be conducted to engage patients and improve inpatient satisfaction through completed whiteboards and direct communication.
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday during day hours, with occasional off-hours required to cover night shifts or attend external events to ensure continuous leadership presence and support.
PBGMC values the expertise and dedication of its healthcare professionals and offers a comprehensive benefits package that prioritizes health, professional growth, and work-life balance. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, generous paid time off, continuing education opportunities, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance and discount programs, and voluntary benefits like pet insurance and legal coverage. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead in a supportive, innovative hospital environment dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care and achieving operational excellence.
