Job Description

Providence is a nationally recognized, comprehensive healthcare organization with a deep-rooted mission to deliver compassionate care to all individuals, especially focusing on the poor and vulnerable. Operating across seven states, Providence boasts a robust network of 51 hospitals, over 1,000 clinics, and an extensive range of health and social services. Its team comprises more than 122,000 caregivers and employees, including 34,000 physicians, who are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of healthcare excellence. The organization’s unified approach is anchored in its guiding principle: One name, one family, one extraordinary health system, which underscores its commitment to providing integrated, patient-centered care.

Within this vast network, Providence ExpressCare plays a pivotal role as part of the Providence Clinical Network (PCN). The PCN is designed to provide optimized ambulatory healthcare services through a consumer-centric and connected focus. Providence ExpressCare clinics are revolutionizing access to timely healthcare by eliminating typical barriers, ensuring the community receives same-day care options easily accessible throughout Oregon. This initiative aligns with Providence’s vision of evolving the healthcare delivery model to enhance convenience, transparency, and reduce costs, ultimately improving the patient experience statewide.

The full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate position at Providence ExpressCare provides a unique and rewarding opportunity for healthcare professionals to become part of an innovative healthcare team dedicated to making a significant impact in the community. This role offers a highly desirable work-life balance with a three-day work week, featuring a schedule of 30 twenty-minute appointments over a 12-hour shift. Such predictability enables practitioners to maintain their professional dedication while enjoying personal time and replenishment.

Applicants will find a dynamic and stimulating work environment where critical thinking and clinic-based procedures are part of the daily routine. ExpressCare staff address a variety of patient needs, functioning as a vital access point for overflow from primary care, urgent care, and emergency departments. This variety keeps the role fresh and engaging, offering providers the chance to expand their clinical skills continually.

The staffing model pairs a provider with a medical assistant supported by an extensive system-wide framework, ensuring clinicians have the resources necessary for efficient, high-quality care delivery. The position includes the potential for productivity incentives on top of a generous compensation package, demonstrating Providence's commitment to rewarding excellence and dedication.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years’ experience in family practice, urgent care, or emergency medicine, coupled with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role also offers the flexibility to conduct both in-office and virtual visits, expanding access while supporting a modern approach to healthcare.

Located in the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon, Providence ExpressCare offers its employees not only meaningful work but also a desirable place to live. Portland is known for its unique blend of urban excitement and natural beauty, from thriving arts and culinary scenes to outdoor adventures near Mt. Hood, the Columbia Gorge, and the Oregon Coast. This balance makes it an ideal location for professionals seeking to integrate their career with lifestyle opportunities.

Joining Providence ExpressCare means becoming part of an exceptional and innovative healthcare team committed to quality care, compassionate service, and continuous growth. This role offers a competitive compensation plan, opportunities to grow your experience, and maintain a great work-life balance in a supportive and mission-driven environment.
