The role of Inpatient Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner at Curana Health is focused on providing compassionate, specialized care to hospitalized patients living with advanced or life-limiting illnesses. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that patients receive thoughtful symptom management, engage in meaningful conversations about their goals of care, and feel supported throughout their healthcare journey. The individual in this role acts as a trusted resource, guiding patients and their families through advance care planning and advocating for patient-centered decision-making.
Working closely with interdisciplinary hospital teams, the Nurse Practitioner helps facilitate seamless communication and care coordination, contributing essential expertise to the management of complex symptoms such as pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, anxiety, and nausea. The role demands autonomy in clinical decision-making while emphasizing compassionate communication and meticulous documentation ensuring the highest standards of care are met.

Job Requirements
- Masters degree in nursing or physician assistant studies
- Valid nurse practitioner or physician assistant license in state of operations
- Current board certification in your field
- Prior hospital RN experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to travel to assigned facilities
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and acceptable driving record may be required with notice
- Compliance with periodic motor vehicle record checks if applicable
Job Qualifications
- Valid nurse practitioner or physician assistant license in state of operations and current board certification in your field
- Masters degree in nursing or physician assistant studies
- Open to new graduates with prior hospital RN experience strongly preferred, ideally in ER or ICU settings
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills preferred
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must possess traits of punctuality, organizational skills, and ability to function within a team
Job Duties
- Deliver compassionate, expert care by completing patient histories, physical exams, and care plans tailored to each patient’s needs
- Facilitate meaningful conversations with patients and families to establish goals of care and ensure choices are clearly documented and honored
- Guide advance care planning, including completion of advance directives and POLST forms
- Provide symptom relief for pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, anxiety, nausea, and other distressing symptoms using pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches
- Collaborate daily with the hospital’s interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless, patient-centered care
- Educate patients, families, and hospital staff on palliative care principles, treatment options, and next steps in care
- Exercise autonomy in decision-making, serving as a trusted resource for patients, families, and colleagues
- Maintain accurate documentation in medical records while ensuring compassionate communication at every touchpoint
