Job Description

Prestera Center is a dedicated behavioral health services organization committed to helping individuals reach their fullest potential through comprehensive and compassionate care. With a mission focused on unity and excellence, Prestera Center serves as a preferred choice for those seeking mental, emotional, and behavioral health support. Known for its team-centric approach and patient-focused services, the center provides a wide range of clinical programs and resources aimed at improving the overall well-being of its community. Employing skilled professionals and fostering an environment of continuous improvement, Prestera Center emphasizes quality, respect, and collaborative care.

The role of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at Prestera Center is vital to the delivery of independent patient care services across all age groups. Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer and positioned within the Clinical Department, this exempt status role involves diagnosing and treating patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in a coordinated team environment. The APRN provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, develops treatment plans, prescribes medications, and collaborates closely with other healthcare providers and the patient to ensure seamless care continuity.

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is expected to perform initial and follow-up psychiatric assessments and manage diagnostic testing while interpreting results for patient care refinement. Educating patients on diagnoses, medication risks, benefits, and alternatives forms a key part of this role. The position also requires timely referrals to crisis and primary care services whenever necessary. Leadership responsibilities include collaborating with medical staff, participating in peer reviews, attending medical meetings, and contributing to various center committees and initiatives such as mortality reviews and service improvement projects.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, attention to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance, and the ability to manage sensitive situations effectively. They will work under established standards of care, ensuring quality and consistency in treatment delivery. While not having direct supervisory responsibilities, the APRN provides leadership at site and program levels.

This position demands a Master's Degree in Nursing with certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner, current licensure in West Virginia, and maintenance of prescriptive authority and DEA registration. Additional requirements include certification in crisis intervention and CPR/First Aid, strong documentation skills, and a valid driver’s license or access to private transportation for job duties. The role offers a meaningful opportunity to impact mental health care delivery positively within a supportive and professional environment.
