Saint Luke's Health System is a faith-based, nonprofit, locally owned health organization located in Kansas City, dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through a highly diverse and inclusive workspace. With over 12,000 employees, Saint Luke's has earned a Magnet designation, affirming its commitment to nursing excellence and quality in healthcare. This renowned healthcare provider places significant emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and professional growth, creating an environment where all voices are heard and employees are supported in achieving their goals. Known for its dedication to work-life balance and continuous improvements, Saint Luke's offers a dynamic and fulfilling workplace aimed at making a positive impact on community health.

The Surgery Nurse Manager position at Saint Luke's is a compelling leadership role designed for a nurse who thrives in high-pressure trauma settings, especially within a Magnet designated trauma center. This full-time, Monday through Friday day role offers flexibility as needed and requires a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Missouri, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preference is given to candidates with at least two years of operating room experience in acute care, Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) designation, and knowledge of regulatory requirements. The Surgery Nurse Manager is pivotal in modeling leadership competencies such as professionalism, innovation, adaptability, independent judgment, and sound decision-making skills.

In this role, the Surgery Nurse Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care strategies within the surgical units, aligned with the organization’s strategic goals of Patient Centered Care. Collaborating closely with nursing leadership and multidisciplinary teams, this leader identifies areas for improvement in clinical practice, policies, and processes to support optimal patient outcomes. The role further emphasizes driving employee engagement and retention while fostering a patient-centered, healing environment where customer expectations are exceeded.

Clinical competence maintenance is essential, and depending on the unit's size and structure, the Surgery Nurse Manager may occasionally participate directly in staffing. The position offers an exceptional opportunity for nursing professionals looking to lead with decisiveness and compassion, contributing directly to lifesaving impacts and the excellence for which Saint Luke's is renowned.
