Job Description
Aiken Regional Medical Centers is a well-respected acute care hospital located in Aiken, South Carolina, offering 273 beds to provide high-quality medical care to local residents and the surrounding communities. Known for excellence in treating heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia, this hospital has been recognized as a top healthcare provider in South Carolina by the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence. The center provides a diverse array of medical services, including emergency care, orthopedic surgeries, maternity services, and behavioral health programs. The hospital serves as a teaching institution, dedicated to supporting nursing students through its experienced and committed nursing staff.
The Nurse Manager (RN) position at Aiken Regional Medical Centers is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing operations at two Free-Standing Emergency Department/Emergency Room (ED/ER) locations—Sweetwater and Martintown. This position involves directly mentoring and supervising nursing staff to ensure efficient and effective unit operations. The Nurse Manager fosters a professional environment that encourages continuous learning and professional development, helping the team to maintain high standards of care and competency. As a unit leader, the Nurse Manager collaborates closely with the hospital's quality department and other healthcare leaders to design and implement performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery and efficiency of patient care across the organization.
Accountable for the 24/7 operational effectiveness of the units, the Nurse Manager plays a key role in budgeting and financial management, working alongside the Director of Emergency Department and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to plan and execute both operational and capital budgets. This role requires ensuring clinical practices are grounded in evidence-based care and aligned with the goals of partnering physicians. The Nurse Manager also prioritizes creating a positive, safe working environment that supports both staff well-being and patient safety.
This role offers several benefits, such as sign-on bonuses, tuition assistance, a challenging and rewarding work environment, diverse programming for professional growth, competitive compensation, and generous paid time off. Other benefits include excellent medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug plans; a 401(k) plan with company match and discounted stock options; pet insurance; access to HealthStream online learning for continuing education units (CEUs); a student loan refinancing program through SoFi; and career development opportunities across Universal Health Services (UHS) and its extensive network of over 300 subsidiaries.
At Aiken Regional Medical Centers and UHS, nurses are valued for their dedication to patient care in a safe and supportive environment that respects the nursing profession. Nurses appreciate the opportunities to provide compassionate care and comfort to patients and families during vulnerable moments. They benefit from a large, nationwide peer network that supports education, idea exchange, and professional growth through various leadership and clinical programs. These ongoing education and career advancement opportunities underscore the organization's commitment to helping nurses succeed, feel a sense of belonging, and exercise their professional voice.
