The role of Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Legacy Health is a critical position within the Imaging Services department, aimed at enhancing patient care through expert diagnostic imaging techniques. This role involves administering radionuclides, operating state-of-the-art imaging equipment, and collaborating closely with nuclear medicine and ultrasound physicians to produce high-quality diagnostic images essential for accurate patient diagnosis and treatment planning. The technologist plays an integral role in patient safety by adhering to radiation safety standards and using professional judgment to provide appropriate care across all age groups, from neonates to geriatric patients.
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will also be responsible for detailed documentation and quality assurance, ensuring all patient information and imaging records are accurate and compliant with hospital policies. Job Requirements
- Graduate of approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or Radiologic Technology program with Nuclear Medicine Specialty
- One-year experience in Nuclear Medicine preferred
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or registration in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N)
- Current state license in Nuclear Medicine for Oregon or Radiologic Technologist Certification for Washington
- AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers
- Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems
- Ability to start IVs and administer medications under LIP direction
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Provide quality images with accuracy and efficiency using all relevant skills and knowledge of equipment
- Administer radionuclides according to department policies and training
- Position patients correctly for diagnostic imaging per procedures and machine requirements
- Operate imaging equipment, determine and set exposure factors and techniques to ensure optimal image quality with minimal repeats
- Use computer image processing to select and optimize images
- Develop and present films and patient information to physicians for diagnosis
- Assist with patient transport using standard procedures
- Gather complete documentation for accurate and timely service
- Identify patients by checking ID, name, and medical record number
- Review patient chart and orders to ensure proper examination
- Label images with demographic and positioning information
- Log activities, gather charging info, and charge exams
- Follow department and hospital policies
- Perform quality control and quality assurance, record results, and report equipment variances
- Provide quality patient care appropriate to age group using professional judgment
- Protect patients and others by following radiation safety standards
- Practice universal and sterile precautions
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding anatomy and physiology
- Monitor patient status and take appropriate action
- Start IVs and administer medications under LIP direction
- Practice professional communication, appearance, punctuality, and conduct
- Inform patients and families about exams
- Maintain professional appearance, flexibility, confidentiality, and guest relations
- Handle stressful situations with positive outcomes
- Maintain current education and certification
- Participate in professional information presentations
