Job Description
CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital is part of CHRISTUS Health, a renowned international Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system. Located in Tyler, Texas, this hospital operates within a comprehensive network that includes nearly 350 services and facilities, such as more than 60 hospitals, long-term care facilities, 175 clinics, outpatient centers, and various other health ministries and ventures. The organization is dedicated to serving underserved communities in seven United States states, as well as in Chile, Colombia, and six states in Mexico. CHRISTUS Health’s mission is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, emphasizing compassionate care, advanced medical technology, and a commitment to patient satisfaction. The CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System, part of this larger network, is a leader in quality initiatives and patient-centered healthcare.
Tyler, Texas, known for its high quality of life, is located approximately 90 miles east of Dallas. It offers affordable housing, excellent schools, and a vibrant cultural scene, making it an ideal place to live and work for healthcare professionals. The area also provides numerous outdoor recreational activities, including lakes, golf courses, and extensive hiking and biking trails, allowing for a balanced lifestyle that combines professional and personal well-being. The city’s growing commitment to healthcare development creates ample opportunities for medical personnel to make meaningful contributions while enjoying a supportive community environment.
The role of PRN Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital is designed as a true PRN (pro re nata or as-needed) position, primarily intended to provide coverage for the full-time NP/PAs. This position does not have a set schedule, offering flexibility for professionals who prefer or require an on-call arrangement. Scheduled hours for the coverage typically span from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, but variability is expected due to the PRN nature of the role.
In this capacity, the NP or PA will work closely with physicians who assign preadmissions tasks to advanced practice clinicians (APCs). The patient volume is capped at a maximum of five preadmit cases per day, allowing attention to detail and thorough patient care. During the Monday through Friday shifts, the NP or PA will collaborate with a team that includes an APC, four physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, and two hospitalists. This multidisciplinary team approach ensures comprehensive patient management and continuity of care in the rehabilitation setting.
This PRN NP/PA role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a reputable, faith-based health system that values innovation and quality healthcare delivery. It also appeals to healthcare professionals seeking flexibility without compromising on the quality of their clinical practice. Through this position, clinicians can maintain skills in a dynamic environment while supporting a well-respected hospital committed to holistic patient care in a community-focused setting.
