The company prides itself on fostering a culture of warmth, belonging, growth, and trust, which is reflected not only in its interactions with guests but also in its workplace environment. The role of the Shift Manager at Panera Bread is a dynamic and rewarding position that places you at the forefront of the bakery-cafe’s operations. As a Shift Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to lead and mentor a team while ensuring that every guest experience is positive and memorable. Your responsibilities will include greeting customers with a friendly and helpful attitude, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, and upholding company policies and procedures. This role is integral in building and sustaining the cafe’s culture; it requires strong leadership to inspire the team, effective communication skills to convey expectations, and a hands-on approach to managing opening, mid, and closing shifts. Shift Managers play a critical role in training new associates, fostering teamwork, and ensuring smooth daily operations in a fast-paced environment.
The position offers competitive wages with bi-weekly pay, team tipping, and a free meal on shift. Panera Bread supports flexible scheduling, making this role suitable for both full-time and part-time employees. After six weeks of paid training, employees gain valuable skills and have access to paid time off after six months for full-time workers. Additionally, medical benefits and a 401K plan with company matching are offered to eligible full-time employees. Panera is committed to the growth and success of its employees, providing a path to management for those who start as hourly associates through structured career programs and ongoing skill development.
