Job Description
Vinsetta Garage is a historic Detroit establishment known as the oldest garage east of the Mississippi River. Originally founded to serve automotive needs, it has since transformed into a vibrant restaurant that honors its legacy through quality and tradition. Located on Woodward Avenue, a major Detroit thoroughfare famed for its cultural significance, Vinsetta Garage is both a local landmark and a beloved destination. The garage is steeped in history and charm, now serving delightful dishes such as burgers, Union Mac & Cheese, tacos, and coal-fired pizzas – all crafted with care to maintain the spirit of the original establishment. The Kurta and Marwil families laid the foundation of quality craftsmanship which remains deeply embedded in every aspect of the business today.
The position available is for a Host, an integral role in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the welcoming atmosphere that suits such a historic and well-loved venue. This is a full-time position offering competitive pay, comprehensive medical and supplemental insurance, on-demand pay, referral bonuses, 401(k) retirement benefits, and paid time off. The Host will be the first point of contact for guests, delivering warm greetings, seating customers efficiently, and ensuring a smooth flow of service from the moment guests arrive until they leave.
More than just a greeter, the Host is essential for managing front-of-house operations including taking names on waiting lists, accurately quoting wait times, organizing the seating plan, and monitoring table statuses. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a bustling environment. Additionally, the Host is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the host area and restrooms, handling to-go orders if applicable, and answering phones while providing knowledgeable information about the menu and restaurant policies. The position requires constant standing, some lifting, and vigilance to ensure guest satisfaction and safety within a busy restaurant environment.
Working at Vinsetta Garage means becoming part of a team that prides itself on sustaining a historic tradition while serving contemporary, quality food. Team members are expected to embody the hospitality, craftsmanship, and community spirit that make Vinsetta Garage a Detroit treasure. This job offers a dynamic workplace where no two days are the same and where the efforts of every employee contribute to turning each guest visit into a memorable dining experience. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy interacting with people, and want to be part of preserving a unique piece of Detroit’s heritage, this Host opportunity at Vinsetta Garage is an excellent fit. Join a team dedicated to excellence in service and carry forward the legend of this cherished landmark through your role.
