The role of Cook at Discovery Villages at Castle Hills in Lewisville, TX, exemplifies this mission of care and excellence. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in enriching the lives of seniors through exceptional culinary experiences. You will be responsible for preparing a variety of hot and cold menu items aligned with standardized recipes and menu cycles, ensuring each meal is delicious, well-presented, and meaningful to the residents. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous cooking experience in a senior living or food service environment
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion controls accurately
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Availability to work full-time with flexible hours including weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in senior living or a similar environment preferred
  • Knowledge of production methods, portion control, and food safety/handling required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team
  • High attention to detail especially in presentation and plating
  • Availability to work weekends as part of the regular schedule

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of hot and cold menu items including work on the grill, saute station, salad bar, and service line
  • Follow standardized recipes to ensure proper preparation, portioning, taste, and presentation of food
  • Taste and check food for quality, palatability, and adherence to culinary standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all food preparation and service areas
  • Support a safe, sanitary, and efficient kitchen environment in accordance with food safety and handling guidelines including maintaining temperature logs, overseeing food storage and date maintenance
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create an exceptional dining experience for residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned
