Job Description
US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, recognized for its commitment to delivering quality products and excellent service to customers across the food industry spectrum. As a large and established company, US Foods supplies a high volume of foodservice products to restaurants, healthcare and hospitality establishments, and other commercial foodservice customers. The company prides itself on its strong safety culture, excellent local leadership, and comprehensive benefits package that fosters a positive work environment for its employees. Dedicated to building a community of food people, US Foods invests heavily in its workforce by offering competitive wages, structured career paths, and a supportive work atmosphere.
The Non CDL Driver position at US Foods is a vital delivery role responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of foodservice products to various customer locations, using company vehicles limited to a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 25,900 pounds. This role requires a combination of driving skills, physical activity, and customer service to guarantee a seamless delivery experience. Delivery drivers must have at least one year of multi-stop delivery experience or six months of local delivery and/or foodservice industry experience. Meeting Department of Transportation (DOT) medical and safety standards is mandatory for this role.
Non CDL Delivery Drivers typically work a weekly schedule of 40 hours with overtime based on business needs. The available shifts include two position options: Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., or Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This position offers the advantage of being home daily, which supports a healthy work-life balance. Drivers start at a competitive wage of $28.13 per hour, with opportunities to earn up to $32.13 per hour after one year, along with annual pay increases. The compensation also includes overtime pay, reinforcing the company’s commitment to fairly compensate efforts based on workload.
This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and occasional lifts of up to 100 pounds, so physical stamina is essential. Drivers will be responsible for loading and unloading products, operating hand trucks, and ensuring product safety by monitoring refrigeration systems during delivery. They are expected to adhere strictly to safe food handling and driving practices. Accurate record-keeping through company tools such as hand scanners and careful processing of any damaged or returned merchandise is part of the job function.
Successful candidates will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive relationships with customers and internal staff. They must be adept at following scheduled routes and stop sequences, promptly reporting delivery or vehicle issues to management, and maintaining vehicle condition through pre-trip and post-trip inspections. This role also entails the occasional collection of payments and handling all required paperwork, making organizational skills an asset.
US Foods offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plans, life insurance, and paid time off. The company also supports personal and professional development through a supportive safety culture and local leadership committed to employee growth. This position presents a great entry point for individuals seeking to build a stable and rewarding career within the foodservice distribution industry.
