The role being offered is primarily focused on delivering exceptional service as a foodservice delivery driver. Delivery drivers are crucial to the success of US Foods as they represent important faces of the organization to customers. This position involves safely driving trucks to customer locations, ensuring timely delivery of foodservice products while maintaining accuracy in order fulfillment. Responsibilities also include unloading products using appropriate equipment, verifying delivery accuracy with customers, and handling collections if necessary.

The standard schedule for this role is Monday through Friday starting at 6:00 AM until completion, with flexibility required for changes based on business needs and potential overtime. Physical stamina and the ability to work safely in various weather conditions are necessary, as the job involves frequent stops and manual handling of products weighing from 20 to over 80 pounds. A valid U.S. driver’s license and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations are mandatory.

The position does not require prior commercial driving experience but favors candidates with experience in multi-stop delivery or local foodservice delivery. Drivers must be at least 21 years old, able to communicate effectively in English, and capable of passing pre-employment testing including background checks and DOT physicals. Familiarity with safe lifting techniques, good customer service skills, and knowledge of local delivery areas are highly valued.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical
  • no more than two traffic convictions within the past two years
  • no DUI convictions within the past three years
  • no driver’s license suspensions within the past three years
  • must pass pre-employment testing including a background check
  • availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require
  • ability to use safe lifting and loading techniques
  • comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift)
  • ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 20-80+ lbs. of product repetitively throughout each shift
  • no commercial or professional driving experience required

Job Qualifications

  • Register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • must be at least 21 years of age
  • valid U.S. driver’s license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required
  • ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • basic math skills
  • strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • knowledge of the local delivery area and map-reading skills preferred
  • one year of multi-stop delivery experience preferred or six months of local delivery and/or foodservice delivery experience preferred
  • ability to operate a manual transmission preferred
  • hand cart delivery experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • carefully unload products from the trailer using a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place products in designated customer storage areas
  • verify delivery accuracy with customers and obtain required signatures
  • handle collections and payments when applicable
  • professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance the customer experience
  • perform all pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • maintain compliance with DOT and safety regulations
