As one of the largest foodservice companies in the country, US Foods maintains a reputation for quality, reliability, and an employee-first culture that promotes growth and career development.
The role of a US Foods Driver in Rochester, MN, presents an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals seeking to build a rewarding career in the foodservice industry. This position offers a full-time schedule from Tuesday through Saturday with early morning shifts starting at 5:30 am, averaging 8-hour shifts. The starting pay rate for this role is highly competitive at $34.50 per hour, highlighting the company’s commitment to rewarding hard work and dedication.
As a US Foods Driver, you will be an integral part of the transportation team responsible for ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food products to customers. You will begin your career with a comprehensive training program that includes classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, and on-the-road driving practice. Throughout this 90-day training period, you will work closely with experienced drivers and coaches to master essential skills such as route completion, vehicle operation, and customer service.
A critical component of this role is the successful completion of obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Trainees must enroll in CDL school and obtain a CDL permit within the first 45 days, and then obtain a CDL Class A license within 90 days of the training program. The program is designed to equip you with all the tools and knowledge needed to become a safe, efficient, and customer-focused driver.
The position requires attention to safety regulations, adherence to company policies, and readiness to work in various weather conditions, including inclement weather where tire chains might need to be applied. Physical fitness is also important, as the job involves standing, walking, lifting, and driving for extended periods, sometimes handling loads ranging from light to very heavy.
US Foods Driver role also emphasizes excellent customer service skills, as drivers frequently interact with clients ensuring proper delivery and customer satisfaction. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability insurance, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance, making it an attractive employer for those seeking stability and growth in the foodservice transportation sector.
This position offers a unique combination of on-the-road and customer-facing activities, perfect for individuals who enjoy dynamic environments and take pride in contributing to the success of a leading foodservice provider. The role is ideal for individuals who meet the minimum qualifications including being at least 21 years old, having the physical ability to perform job functions safely, and passing required DOT physical and substance testing. Candidates are expected to have good communication skills, the ability to learn and use GPS and other equipment, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service excellence. US Foods provides a supportive work environment, training, and growth opportunities for the right candidates ready to embark on a professional driving career.
