Sysco is a leading global distributor of food products, offering a broad range of services to the foodservice industry. As a well-established company, Sysco is known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and operational excellence. The company operates as a major supplier for restaurants, healthcare, education, and lodging industries, providing a comprehensive portfolio of food and related products. Sysco's dedication to innovation and sustainable practices positions it as a key player in the food distribution sector. Employment with Sysco is typically full-time, offering competitive salaries and opportunities for career advancement in a dynamic environment. Joining Sysco means being part of a company that values teamwork, safety, and customer satisfaction at every level.
The Delivery Driver role at Sysco is critical to ensuring that daily routes run smoothly and efficiently. This position involves operating trucks loaded with products and making frequent stops according to designated routes provided by the Transportation Department Manager. The driver is responsible for unloading products safely using hand trucks or by hand, placing items directly into customer storage areas, and frequently lifting or moving heavy products weighing between 1 to 75 pounds, with occasional loads up to 100 pounds. The role requires physical endurance and the ability to work in various weather conditions while maintaining high safety standards. Drivers will also engage in cross-dock operations by picking up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries and returning empty trucks to the assigned lot.
Beyond transportation duties, the delivery driver must provide professional customer service by verifying deliveries, obtaining signatures, and communicating discrepancies or errors to management. Handling customer complaints with professionalism and adhering to company safety protocols, including pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, are a vital part of the job. Familiarity and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are mandatory, particularly for those holding a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
This role suits candidates who thrive in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment with a strong focus on accuracy, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. Drivers are expected to maintain excellent communication with internal departments and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Desired candidates should demonstrate adaptability, effective time management, and problem-solving skills while promoting a safe working environment. Sysco provides opportunities for those looking to develop a career in transportation and logistics with a reputable company recognized throughout the industry.
