Job Description
Sysco is a leading global distributor of food and non-food products to the foodservice and hospitality industries. Known for its commitment to quality and customer service, Sysco serves clients ranging from restaurants and healthcare facilities to educational institutions and lodging establishments. With a strong emphasis on logistic efficiency and sustainability, Sysco operates a comprehensive transportation and distribution network that ensures timely delivery of fresh, frozen, and ambient products. Employing a large workforce, Sysco values safety, professionalism, and integrity in every aspect of its operations, making it one of the most reputable companies in the food distribution sector.
The position available is for a Route Delivery Driver, offering a pay rate of $20.50 per hour. This full-time role involves executing daily delivery routes with frequent stops, managing the loading and unloading of packages onto hand trucks, and organizing deliveries as directed by the Transportation Department Manager. Operating within a cross-dock model, the driver will pick up loaded trucks from nightly delivery docks, complete the delivery route efficiently, and return the empty truck to the designated parking area. The role may occasionally require assistance with loading vehicles, palletizing products, and performing additional tasks assigned by supervisors or managers. Given the physical demands of the job, including frequent lifting of heavy products and maneuvering through various weather conditions, the ideal candidate must maintain high standards of safety and customer service.
Responsibilities include ensuring route deliveries meet or exceed established timeframes, verifying orders with customers, handling discrepancies professionally, and adhering to Department of Transportation regulations for pre-trip and post-trip inspections. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and adherence to company policies. Drivers must be prepared to interact with customers directly, manage route logistics independently, and maintain clear communication with management about any issues encountered during deliveries. This position is critical to maintaining Sysco's reputation for reliable and timely delivery service in an industry where customer satisfaction and operational efficiency are paramount.
