Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a prominent member of Feeding America, the nation's largest charitable hunger-relief organization. Second Harvest's Meals for Good program is a vital service delivering freshly prepared meals to a variety of community organizations, including early childcare centers, children's after-school programs, group homes, senior feeding programs, and private and charter schools. With the Plates of Plenty initiative, the program focuses on providing the freshest and healthiest ingredients possible, emphasizing minimally processed foods. All meals are prepared in the Darden Foundation Community Kitchen overseen by chefs and production staff, ensuring quality and safety. Revenue generated through food service operations helps fund ongoing efforts to combat hunger within the Central Florida community.

The Non-Commercial Food Service Driver plays a critical role within this framework, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of meals, food products, and program supplies using a refrigerated van. This full-time role, primarily scheduled Monday through Friday with occasional weekend shifts as needed, requires a dependable, organized, and safety-conscious individual capable of managing time effectively in a dynamic food service environment. The driver will operate a refrigerated non-CDL vehicle to deliver items to assigned locations, adhering strictly to established routes and schedules to maintain service reliability.

Key responsibilities include loading and unloading deliveries while ensuring accuracy and compliance with food safety and cold chain requirements. The driver will monitor and document product and vehicle temperatures to maintain food safety standards and conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure operational integrity. Exceptional customer service is essential, as the driver will represent Second Harvest professionally when interacting with partner agencies, volunteers, staff, and community members. Additional duties comprise assisting with product staging and warehouse or meal program operations and maintaining accurate delivery and temperature records. Adherence to organizational safety policies, traffic laws, and food safety regulations is mandatory to support safe and efficient operations.

This position is suitable for individuals with a minimum of one year of driving experience, possessing a valid driver's license and a good driving record. While prior experience in food service, delivery, warehouse, logistics, or nonprofit meal program operations is desirable, it is not required. The ideal candidate should have basic knowledge of food safety or be willing to complete necessary training, strong communication skills, the ability to read and follow delivery paperwork and instructions, and the capability to work independently. Physically, the role demands the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, load and unload supplies, and perform work in refrigerated and warehouse environments.
