The current opportunity is for a Delivery Driver position with US Foods. This role demands dedication, physical stamina, and excellent customer service skills to ensure timely and accurate deliveries to a variety of foodservice clients. The job follows a split schedule, typically working 5-6 days a week including weekends, with a day off on Wednesday or Thursday. The shift runs early morning from 5 to 8 am dispatch until completion, often requiring 12 to 14 hour shifts. The pay rate for this position is $22.50 per hour, with compensation influenced by relevant experience, education, and geographic location. The Delivery Driver is entrusted with the crucial responsibility of delivering food products safely and efficiently to multiple stops within the assigned territory. This includes lifting and loading an array of food products weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds, operating delivery vehicles safely, and using hand trucks to transport products into customer locations, sometimes up and down stairs. An integral part of the job is maintaining accurate delivery records using hand scanners and ensuring proper handling of returned products.

Attention to detail is necessary to verify invoicing, process damaged goods documentation, and collect payments from customers as needed. Maintaining the safety and quality of food products during delivery by monitoring refrigeration systems is critical, as is following all safe food handling protocols. The driver is responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure operational safety and compliance. Additionally, this role requires strong communication skills to report customer or delivery issues promptly to the appropriate company authorities.

Successful candidates will demonstrate adaptability, the ability to manage work efficiently, and strong interpersonal skills to build trust and customer loyalty. A valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record, ability to pass Department of Transportation physicals, and compliance with safety regulations are essential to performing this job. Experience in multi-stop delivery, preferably in the foodservice industry, is required. The position involves working outdoors and in various weather conditions, demanding physical exertion like climbing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with proper endorsements
  • No more than two convictions for traffic violations in past two years
  • No DUI convictions in past three years
  • No driver’s license suspensions in past three years
  • Ability to pass DOT physical
  • One year multi-stop delivery experience required or six months local delivery and/or foodservice experience
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English related to job and safety regulations
  • Basic math skills
  • Pass pre-employment testing including background check
  • Knowledge of area and map reading
  • Use safe lifting and loading techniques

  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime

Job Duties

  • Lift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis and up to 100 lbs on an occasional basis
  • Load and unload the vehicle for multi-stop deliveries
  • Transport deliveries by driving assigned vehicles
  • Use hand truck to move product from the delivery vehicle into the customer location including going up and down stairs
  • Accurately record delivery information including operating a hand scanner and all company required documentation
  • Responsible for proper documentation and disposition for any return product
  • Communicate delivery-customer issues to proper authority
  • Deliver product to each designated stop following the stop sequence
  • Unload product safely and stage product in the space designated by customer
  • Check invoice for complete delivery and process paperwork for damaged merchandise
  • Collect payments if necessary
  • Monitor refrigeration system on the delivery vehicle for safety and follow all safe food handling procedures
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections including monitoring fluid levels, tires, windshield wash, and replenishing fuel
  • Other duties as assigned
