The role offered is a Driver position at PFG Specialty, based at 1728 Park Central in Pompano Beach, Florida. This is an hourly position with a competitive pay rate of $20.00 per hour. The work schedule comprises a five-day workweek within a six-day operation window (Monday through Saturday), with Sundays off. The start time begins at 6 a.m. and continues until the job is complete, providing a consistent but flexible work pattern. This role involves driving a straight truck or van on intrastate and/or interstate local routes to deliver and unload various food and food-related products to customers. Primarily, the driver handles the delivery of urgent orders due to mispicks and other customer service-related issues, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.

Safety and professionalism are paramount in this role. Drivers must conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicles according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintain accurate delivery and freight documentation, and uphold company quality standards. They will communicate and interact respectfully and effectively with customers, vendors, and coworkers to guarantee outstanding service. Responsibilities also include moving trailers, managing deliveries to customer storage areas, performing damage control checks, verifying deliveries with customers, collecting payments when necessary, loading returns, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the vehicle and loading docks.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Six months commercial driving experience
  • Valid non-commercial driver's license
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT health card
  • Ability to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move product cases typically weighing 60 to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform pre-trip safety check inspection of truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Inspect cab and trailer to ensure company quality standards
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes
  • Handle deliveries of urgent orders due to mispicks and other service-related issues
  • Unload products and transport them into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items and report issues to supervisor
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain signatures
  • Collect cash or checks when required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Unload pallets, insulated blankets, Power Walkers, hand carts, and remove trash from trailers
  • Complete daily hours of service log following Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform post-trip safety check and secure tractor and trailer
  • Conduct general housekeeping duties in the cab and loading dock area
  • Secure all equipment and finalize paperwork at shift end
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
