The role of Delivery, Sales, and Merchandising Driver within Perry's Ice Cream is a dynamic and integral part of the company’s Direct Store Delivery (DSD) team. In this position, the individual is responsible not only for delivering high-quality frozen products throughout designated routes but also for ensuring that these products are merchandised attractively in stores to drive sales. The daily responsibilities include working early hours, typically starting between 4 AM and 5 AM, operating a freezer truck for up to 12 hours to deliver Perry's ice cream and partner brand products to a diverse range of accounts including convenience stores, drug stores, supermarkets, and independent grocery stores primarily around the Syracuse area. The role requires physical stamina as it involves lifting and carrying products weighing up to 75 pounds, pushing and pulling dollies carrying up to 100 to 500 pounds, and working in cold environments such as walk-in freezers with temperatures ranging from -10°F to -20°F. Safety is paramount, and Perry's provides uniforms and gloves to support employee wellbeing. This role demands excellent communication skills and a strong customer service orientation, as building and maintaining positive relationships with store managers and personnel is crucial to successfully expanding the presence of Perry’s Ice Cream.
