Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leader in the food distribution industry, serving a wide variety of customers such as independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. What distinguishes Performance Foodservice is its commitment not only to deliver quality food products but also to provide exceptional customer service backed by a team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and experts. These professionals engage closely with customers to offer strategic advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and other essential areas to help foodservice businesses thrive. This unique combination of product delivery and consultative support places Performance Foodservice in a pivotal role in the food service supply chain, contributing significantly to the success and growth of independent restaurateurs and other foodservice operators.
The company fosters an inclusive work environment that values safety, respect, recognition, and rewards. Employees benefit from comprehensive pay and benefits packages from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. With a commitment to equal employment opportunity, Performance Foodservice champions diversity and inclusion at all levels of employment. The company is steadfast in meeting all regulatory requirements and maintaining safe working conditions across its operations.
The Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays a critical role in the company’s mission to deliver fresh, quality food products efficiently and safely to customers. This role involves driving a straight truck or van over short routes within a state or between nearby states, handling urgent delivery orders mainly arising from inventory mispicks or other customer service scenarios. The driver is expected to perform thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips and ensure all safety protocols under company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are followed meticulously.
The driver’s responsibilities extend beyond just driving; they also include unloading products, managing customer deliveries accurately by verifying invoices and collecting payment when necessary, and maintaining the security of both the vehicle and the freight. Drivers must efficiently manage deliveries to meet scheduled timeframes while also performing damage control checks and reporting any discrepancies or issues immediately to supervisors. Furthermore, the role demands some physical capability since drivers will handle lifting and moving product cases weighing up to 90 pounds using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates.
With an hourly wage of $21, this full-time, Monday to Friday day-shift position offers the advantage of being home daily, a significant benefit for work-life balance. Performance Foodservice encourages growth and offers career advancement opportunities within the food distribution sector. This role is integral not only in the company’s operational delivery but also in upholding its reputation for exceptional customer service and safe, reliable transportation. The driver will be part of a supportive team that values professionalism, safety, and dedication to essential work that helps sustain America's food distribution system.
