The Hotel Zags is a stylish, boutique hotel located in the vibrant Fountain District of downtown Portland, Oregon. Known for its inviting atmosphere and close proximity to lively local attractions, The Hotel Zags offers guests a unique hospitality experience that blends natural beauty with the quirky culture of the city. The hotel is designed to bring the outdoors inside, featuring vibrant color schemes, modern furnishings, large picture windows framing city and courtyard views, and a Living Wall full of lush plant life inspired by the nearby Columbia River Gorge. As an independent property, The Hotel Zags prides itself on its distinct style and energetic vibe, making it a hidden gem within Portland's hospitality landscape.
The Night Auditor & Porter (Hybrid) role at The Hotel Zags is essential in maintaining the hotel's operational integrity, safety, and guest satisfaction during the overnight shift. This position uniquely combines the responsibilities of both night auditing and porter duties, ensuring a smooth transition between late-night and daytime hotel operations. As a Night Auditor, the successful candidate will perform detailed financial audits, balancing and reconciling accounts across multiple hotel revenue centers including the front desk, rooms, food and beverage, and retail outlets. This is a critical function that supports the hotel's financial accuracy and fraud prevention efforts. As a Porter, the role involves conducting property rounds for security and safety, maintaining cleanliness and presentation of public spaces, supporting early morning breakfast service, and assisting housekeeping with guest room preparation.
In addition to these core functions, the Night Auditor & Porter delivers exceptional guest service by assisting with check-in and check-out, managing reservations, handling telephone inquiries, and responding promptly to guest needs and concerns. The role demands strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to create a seamless and welcoming guest experience. The Hotel Zags values professionalism, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in this overnight position. This full-time, regular role offers a competitive hourly salary ranging from $20.00 to $21.50 per hour, reflecting the importance of the position within the hotel's operations.
The Hotel Zags is also committed to sustainability and employee well-being, boasting a Gold certification for Sustainability at Work and recognition as one of Oregon's Healthiest Employers. Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, paid time off, retirement plans with matching contributions, and educational reimbursement programs. This commitment to both environmental stewardship and employee satisfaction makes The Hotel Zags a standout workplace in the hospitality industry. For candidates passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to a dynamic team in a standout boutique hotel setting, the Night Auditor & Porter role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity.
