Job Description
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Founded over a century ago, this organization is one of the leading forces in the fight against cancer through innovative research, education, advocacy, and patient support. With a workforce that includes over 3,000 employees and 1.3 million volunteers, the society is distinguished by its commitment to diversity and inclusion, aiming to better serve various communities across the United States. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the American Cancer Society operates numerous programs and services with the objective of improving cancer prevention and care for all individuals, regardless of background or location.
Located in Burlington, Vermont, the American Cancer Society is currently hiring a Part-Time Night Lead for its overnight lodge operations. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of guests staying at the lodge during overnight hours. Working specifically from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the Night Lead responds to emergencies, conducts security patrols, and oversees the lodge environment during the night to guarantee a seamless and secure experience for guests.
In this position, the Night Lead is responsible for monitoring guest needs throughout the night, enforcing safety protocols, and coordinating effectively with emergency responders when necessary. The job also involves completing nightly reports, managing check-in data, and maintaining room inventory. Attention to detail is paramount as the Night Lead will inspect guest rooms and public spaces for cleanliness and readiness, launder linens, and reset common areas for the following day. A strong understanding of hospitality or healthcare overnight operations and night auditing is essential for the role.
The pay rate for this part-time position is $25.46 per hour, complemented by a benefits package that includes generous paid time off, medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities. Candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant experience in hospitality, healthcare, or security-related fields are preferred. Additional education or training in hospitality management or a related area is an advantage.
The role demands physical stamina as it involves extended periods of standing, frequent walking throughout the lodge, and occasional lifting of supplies or equipment. The Night Lead must be capable of independent decision-making and proficient in using reservation systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively are essential traits. The job also requires adaptability to various environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
By joining the American Cancer Society, the Night Lead becomes a part of an organization that not only fights cancer but also fosters an inclusive work culture and supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health and professional growth. The American Cancer Society is an equal opportunity employer devoted to maintaining equitable opportunities for all employees and applicants.
