The Hostler role at Performance Foodservice is a vital part of the company’s operational framework. This position focuses primarily on moving tractor trailers on Operating Company property, including loading docks, parking areas, and transportation to offsite maintenance or inspection centers. The work schedule for this role is Sunday through Wednesday from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM, with the shift typically concluding once all assigned tasks are completed. The Hostler ensures the seamless flow of trailers between the trailer yard and the main warehouse, which directly supports the company’s daily operations in food distribution. This role demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and maintaining a high standard of safety and professionalism at all times.

In this position, the Hostler performs inspections of trailers, moves loaded and empty trailers safely and efficiently, fuels and parks tractors and trailers as needed, transports trailers to maintenance facilities, secures equipment adequately, completes required documentation, and supports team members by performing additional duties as assigned.
