This Custodian role at Iona University is a vital part of maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment on campus. The position entails comprehensive cleaning services across various university facilities such as bathrooms, offices, classrooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, and dormitories. This includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, window cleaning that sometimes requires ladder use, and lifting items up to 50 pounds to ensure all areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. The Custodian will also be responsible for collecting and disposing of garbage and recyclables from all designated areas, and performing floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, stripping, and buffing hardwood floors. Additional responsibilities include reporting any faulty building functions such as issues with lights, doors, locks, or bathroom fixtures to the supervisor, assisting with snow removal when needed, and flexible work hours that include night shifts from Tuesday through Friday and Saturday afternoons. A valid driver’s license is a mandatory requirement for the position. Possible overtime work may be required to meet the demands of the university’s operational needs.
