The Residence Inn Portland/Scarborough, managed by Highgate, is currently seeking a part-time Night Auditor for overnight shifts, with the possibility of full-time work that includes evening front desk responsibilities. This role is essential in maintaining the financial accuracy and operational integrity of the hotel during overnight hours. The Night Auditor plays a critical role in reconciling all hotel cashier transactions and reviewing and compiling detailed management reports promptly. This position demands a keen eye for financial accuracy and requires the incumbent to ensure that guest billing and city ledger transactions are meticulously checked and balanced. Additionally, the Night Auditor functions as a guest service agent, assisting with check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and switchboard operations as needed, thereby contributing directly to guest satisfaction and smooth hotel operations. This role requires effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of hotel management and handle any operational or financial issues that arise during the shift. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Guest service experience preferred
- Computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Willingness to cross-train in other hotel-related areas
Job Duties
- Reconcile all hotel cashier transactions
- Review, organize and compile management reports on a timely basis
- Ensure accuracy of guest billings and city ledger transactions
- Communicate concerns and related issues to all levels of management
- Perform guest service agent duties including check-in, check-out, switchboard operation and reservations
- Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports
- Prepare and distribute daily and month-end reports according to hotel standards
- Audit and reconcile all Front Desk and Food & Beverage cashier’s work
- Audit, reconcile, consolidate and transmit all credit cards on a timely basis
- Prioritize job functions to meet deadlines
- Ensure accuracy of all numbers reported including statistics
- Input and update financial information into corporate communications network
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual data processing system functions as required
- Keep management informed of unusual operational or financial events and deviations of policies or procedures
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
- Respond to governmental inquiries
- Handle guest requests
