Job Description
Grand Pacific Hotel Services, L.P. is the owner and employer of all associates working at the Westin/Solea Carlsbad Resort & Spa, a prestigious resort hotel located in Carlsbad. Although Marriott International is a globally recognized name in hospitality, it is important to note that they do not own or directly employ associates at Westin/Solea Carlsbad Resort & Spa. Grand Pacific Hotel Services manages the on-site employment and operations, embodying a commitment to exceptional guest service and high standards of hospitality that contribute to a memorable resort experience. The resort itself offers a luxurious environment with various amenities and facilities tailored to both leisure and business travelers, emphasizing comfort, convenience, and superior guest relations. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team in a high-profile setting with supportive management and a focus on employee development and guest satisfaction.
The position of Front Desk Agent at Westin/Solea Carlsbad Resort & Spa is pivotal in creating an excellent guest experience from the moment of arrival to departure. The position involves recording, processing, and analyzing daily closing figures, completing necessary reports to ensure balance in credit transactions, and attending to various guest needs such as registration, checkout, cashiering, and making guest wake up calls. This role requires excellent communication skills and attention to detail to maintain smooth front desk operations as well as uphold the resort's hospitality standards.
As a Front Desk Agent, you will greet and welcome guests, register them using the computer system, verify reservations and payment information, and provide information about the resort’s facilities, local attractions, and available promotions. The role demands strict adherence to security protocols and company policies, efficient handling of cash and accounting duties, and promoting the resort's loyalty program, MARRIOTT BONVOY, to eligible guests. You will also be responsible for supporting ancillary sales such as merchandise, food and beverage, and attraction tickets, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the lobby and guest areas.
This position also includes essential duties like issuing keys and controlling access to safety deposit boxes, making timely wake-up calls, managing nightly reports, and coordinating with security when necessary. Employees in this role must be able to work varying schedules, including overnight shifts, reflecting the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry. The ability to stand for long periods, work effectively under moderate temperature control, and lift up to 30 lbs occasionally is also required.
The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with one to two years of experience in a public contact position and basic accounting. Certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED are necessary, along with competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic computer skills including 10-key by touch. Strong verbal and written communication skills, basic computational ability, and a professional, well-groomed appearance in line with Westin/Solea Carlsbad’s standards are essential. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow within a respected hospitality company renowned for its focus on guest experience and employee satisfaction.
