Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to exceptional guest experiences and innovative service. With a robust portfolio of brands, Marriott International operates thousands of hotels worldwide, offering diverse accommodations to meet the needs of business travelers and leisure guests alike. One of its notable brands, Courtyard by Marriott, is specifically designed to cater to the dynamic lifestyle of business travelers by focusing on comfort, convenience, and connectivity. The Courtyard brand prides itself on creating an environment where guests can work, relax, and enjoy their stay with ease. Marriott International operates under a strong culture of inclusion, valuing the unique backgrounds and talents of its associates, and remains dedicated to fostering a workplace that supports growth, diversity, and equal opportunity for all employees.
This position is with the Courtyard by Marriott located at 1050 Bayhill Drive, San Bruno, California. The role is part-time, non-management, and offers an hourly wage of $25.50. Employees are expected to work on-site and demonstrate open availability to accommodate the scheduling needs of a busy hospitality environment.
The role primarily involves performing end-of-day financial activities including posting charges to guest accounts, running night audit backups, and rolling over the business date. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing various payment types including cash, checks, debit, and credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy and security throughout. Managing adjustment vouchers, paid-outs, correction vouchers, and miscellaneous charges forms part of the financial duties. An important aspect of the job is to maintain contingency lists for emergency situations, emphasizing guest safety and preparedness.
This position requires interpersonal skills to sell rooms and accommodations to walk-in guests based on availability, and to provide courteous telephone service including operating the switchboard, handling wake-up call requests, and communicating messages to guests. The role includes processing guest check-ins and assigning rooms, as well as handling the activation or reissuing of room keys utilizing electronic key machines.
At shift end, employees are responsible for counting the bank, securing it in compliance with accounting procedures, balancing and dropping receipts as per company standards, and maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the work area. Reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries to management is also essential to uphold a safe working environment.
The role emphasizes a high level of professionalism and adherence to company policies, including maintaining confidentiality, protecting company assets, and presenting a clean and professional appearance. Providing an exceptional guest experience by welcoming and acknowledging guests warmly, addressing their needs promptly, and assisting guests with disabilities are key components of the position. Effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude are necessary to support shared goals and foster a positive workplace.
Physical demands include lifting or moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds, reaching overhead and below the knees, and standing or walking for extended periods during the work shift. Additional tasks as directed by supervisors may also be required, underlining the dynamic nature of the role within the hospitality setting.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent and less than one year of related work experience, with no supervisory experience required. The position does not require any specific licenses or certifications.
Working at Marriott International and Courtyard means being part of a respected and global team where inclusivity is championed and associates are encouraged to grow professionally and personally. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a leading hospitality company dedicated to excellence, guest satisfaction, and associate well-being. If you are passionate about delivering quality service and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-driven environment, this role at Courtyard by Marriott in San Bruno could be an excellent fit for you.
