Courtyard by Marriott Fort Meade BWI Business District is a distinguished hotel located at 2700 Hercules Rd, Annapolis Junction, Maryland. Part of the globally recognized Marriott International brand, this hotel is designed to cater primarily to business travelers, offering modern amenities combined with comfortable accommodations to ensure an exceptional guest experience. As a leader in the hospitality industry, Courtyard by Marriott Fort Meade upholds Marriott's commitment to quality, service excellence, and inclusivity in the workplace. The hotel is conveniently situated near the Baltimore-Washington International Airport and the Fort Meade military base, making it a preferred choice for business and leisure guests.
This position is a part-time, non-management role based at the Courtyard by Marriott Fort Meade BWI Business District. The hourly pay rate is set at $17.50, catering to individuals seeking flexible work schedules within a respected hospitality environment.
The role entails various front office duties central to delivering an outstanding guest experience during the night shift. Key responsibilities include completing end-of-day financial activities such as posting charges to guest accounts, running the night audit backup, and managing date rolls. The individual will process all types of payments, including room charges, cash, checks, debit, and credit transactions with accuracy and professionalism. Additionally, the role involves managing adjustment vouchers, paid-outs, correction vouchers, and miscellaneous charges while maintaining accurate records through contingency lists crucial for emergency preparedness.
The position also requires engaging in front desk operations by selling rooms or accommodations to walk-in guests based on availability, processing guest check-ins, assigning rooms, and handling electronic key activation or reissuance. Strong communication skills are essential as duties include operating the telephone switchboard, processing wake-up call requests, conveying messages to guests, and providing friendly and efficient assistance.
Further responsibilities include preparing the Room Rate Variance Report, counting and securing the bank at the end of each shift, balancing and dropping receipts per accounting procedures, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of work areas. The role demands adherence to company policies, ensuring a professional appearance, maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information, and safeguarding company assets.
Employees in this position are expected to demonstrate exemplary customer service skills by welcoming and acknowledging guests in line with company standards, anticipating and meeting their needs, and assisting individuals with disabilities. The role encourages teamwork, requiring the individual to develop positive workplace relationships and support colleagues toward common goals. Compliance with quality assurance standards and protocols is mandatory.
Physically, the job involves moderate physical activity such as moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds, reaching overhead and below the knees, as well as prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or walking. Employees must be capable of performing these tasks safely while maintaining the high standards expected in a professional hotel environment.
Courtyard by Marriott Fort Meade is proud of its inclusive workplace culture, promoting equal opportunity employment regardless of race, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. The company fosters a supportive atmosphere where diverse backgrounds, talents, and experiences are celebrated, contributing to the richness of the work environment. Marriott International offers a comprehensive benefits package tailored to support employees and their families, encouraging career development and personal growth.
Joining Courtyard by Marriott means becoming part of a prestigious portfolio of brands under Marriott International, where you can do your best work, develop your professional purpose, belong to a global team, and become the best version of yourself. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about providing exceptional guest service, who thrive in a team-oriented setting and are eager to learn and improve continuously while enjoying a rewarding hospitality career.
