This opportunity is for the position of a Night Auditor, a crucial role within the hotel’s front office and accounting departments. The Night Auditor acts as the bridge between evening and morning shifts, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the hotel's financial records during the overnight hours. This role involves verifying the correctness of guest accounts, balancing departmental income, and posting relevant charges such as room, tax, and local phone fees to guest folios. It demands attention to detail, strong numerical and reasoning skills, as well as proficiency with computer software applicable to hotel operations. The position is typically full-time and requires working overnight hours, including the handling of sensitive financial data and interactions with guests. The Night Auditor must prepare various reports, including revenue and credit reports, to be reviewed by management and ensure that all financial information aligns accurately. Beyond financial duties, this role includes guest services responsibilities such as assigning rooms courteously and efficiently, managing walk-in reservations, providing information to guests, and executing proper phone etiquette. Emergency preparedness and adherence to company policies and procedures are also critical aspects of the role. This position requires the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a professional demeanor and strong communication skills. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma minimum
  • three or more years of hotel operations experience preferred
  • developed English language skills for reading, writing, and speaking
  • reasoning ability to apply common sense and perform mathematical calculations
  • proficiency in company-issued computer software including Microsoft Office suite
  • ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • ability to work in a stressful environment with frequent interruptions
  • willingness to learn new software programs and upgrades
  • adherence to company policies and emergency procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • three or more years of hotel operations experience preferred
  • proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office 365, and Outlook
  • strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills
  • ability to apply common sense to follow instructions
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • ability to interpret business records and reports
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Completes posting of all charges
  • receives and records guest payments
  • prepares revenue reports including all day rates
  • posts room, tax, and local calls for the day
  • prepares high balance credit reports for guest ledger
  • prepares Housekeeper's Report listing room status by 7 a.m.
  • assigns rooms to incoming guests courteously
  • maintains daily walk-in reservations
  • follows phone courtesy rules
  • records and makes wake-up calls
  • provides information to guests courteously
  • knows emergency policies and procedures
  • completes night audit by 7 a.m.
  • communicates morning information to department heads
  • handles internal control items per hotel policies
  • uploads required reports for review and approval
