The role is for a Clinical Pharmacist with significant responsibilities in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for hospitalized patients. This individual will demonstrate both clinical and operational knowledge, utilizing expertise in patient assessment, treatment, and medication management. The Clinical Pharmacist is expected to implement and sustain clinical rounding services in collaboration with healthcare teams, which includes performing thorough patient medication order evaluations—checking for dosage problems, drug interactions, and incompatibilities. This role also encompasses preparing and dispensing medications per physician requests, reviewing culture and susceptibility data to ensure antibiotic appropriateness, and assisting with pharmacokinetic consults for optimized drug dosing.\n\nApart from technical clinical duties, the Clinical Pharmacist will play a crucial role in mentoring, training, and precepting new employees, pharmacy residents, and students, facilitating their development and growth within the pharmacy practice. They will need to document clinical activities and interventions thoroughly and accurately while performing within set time frames adapting well to workload fluctuations. The pharmacist is also tasked with maintaining professional development requirements and developing quality improvement measures aimed at enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. An ideal candidate will bring a strong clinical background combined with effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, residents, and other healthcare providers as part of the integrated medical team. Job Requirements

Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required
Licensed Pharmacist by North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) required or eligible to become licensed by NCBOP required
1 year of post-graduate training (i.e. ASHP-Accredited PGY1 Residency) or equivalent clinical experience required
Good communication skills, both oral and written
Interpersonal skills that promote cooperative peer behavior
Knowledge of drugs and how they act and interact
Knowledge of Pharmacy laws (state and national)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments
Punctual and dependable
Ability to see and read physician orders, medication labels, etc.
Manual dexterity to use computer and typewriter, compound prescriptions and IV admixtures
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and patients

Job Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
Licensed Pharmacist by North Carolina Board of Pharmacy or eligible to become licensed
Board Certification preferred
1 year of post-graduate training (i.e. ASHP-Accredited PGY1 Residency) or equivalent clinical experience
PGY2 in an acute care setting or equivalent practice experience or PGY1 Residency plus 3 years of clinical experience preferred
Good communication skills, both oral and written
Interpersonal skills that promote cooperative peer behavior
Knowledge of drugs and how they act and interact
Knowledge of Pharmacy laws (state and national)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Job Duties

Perform comprehensive patient medication order evaluation, check for problems with dosages, interactions and incompatibilities
Prepare and dispense medication orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures and protocols
Review and interpret culture and susceptibility data for antibiotic appropriateness and recommend changes as necessary
Assist with pharmacokinetics consult services and drug dosing per organizational protocols
Detect and report suspected adverse drug reactions and medication errors accurately and in a timely manner set by medication safety pharmacist
Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely
Develop working relationships with pharmacists, attending physicians, medical residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and other health care team members
