Job Description

NewSpring Church, located in Wichita, Kansas, is a vibrant faith community committed to spreading its mission through various ministries and outreach programs. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to spiritual growth, NewSpring Church also operates a retail arm known as the NewSpring Store and NewSpring Coffee Company. This retail ministry serves both as a source of fellowship and service to its guests during weekend services and special events. The role of NewSpring Store Manager/Cashier Supervisor is a pivotal position reporting directly to the Executive Administrative Pastor and classified under Grade II with a salary range of $15.10 to $23.40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This non-exempt position requires a regular on-site presence at the church campus in Wichita and is designed for an individual passionate about retail management and ministry service alike.

The Store Manager/Cashier Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the NewSpring Store and Coffee Company during weekend services and special church events. This role involves supervising sales, managing inventory, coordinating merchandise collaboration with the Creative Team, and ensuring a welcoming store atmosphere that aligns with the church’s mission. Integral to the role is directing a team of staff and volunteers to maintain excellent customer service standards and ensuring the store’s merchandise supports the church's broader objectives.

Key responsibilities include planning and analyzing seasonal merchandise needs, generating and reviewing profit and loss reports to optimize inventory strategy, and maintaining accurate stock through the point-of-sale system. The Manager will also handle administrative tasks such as pricing, barcode generation, and content support for the online store. Supervisory duties include managing staff schedules, conducting performance reviews, facilitating cash and card transactions, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the store and coffee shop.

The ideal candidate will bring 2-3 years of experience in ministry volunteer work or employment, paired with retail sales and customer service experience. They should possess strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills capable of motivating and training staff through servant leadership. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and competence with cash management practices are essential. Physical demands require the ability to handle tasks involving lifting up to 40 pounds, standing for extended periods, and operating technological devices.

The work environment is primarily indoors with some outdoor duties, and the usual schedule amounts to approximately 27.5 hours per week, including weekend and special event shifts. Job Duties

  • Analyze seasonal and calendar-based merchandise needs
  • Communicate inventory requirements to the Creative Team
  • Collaborate with the Creative Team on merchandise order initiation and inventory quantities
  • Generate and review profit and loss reports
  • Update inventory in the point-of-sale system
  • Obtain perishable inventory ensuring freshness
  • Generate barcodes and price labels
  • Assist in content development for the online store
  • Monitor store merchandise security
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders for payment facilitation
  • Manage work and personnel functions
  • Schedule and supervise cashier team
  • Process cash and card payments, refunds, and exchanges
  • Facilitate a welcoming customer service environment
  • Lead staff in inventory maintenance and store presentation
