These guiding principles form the foundation for how the team interacts with guests and supports each other, ensuring an outstanding and welcoming environment for families and visitors alike.
This role is for a Bartender who will be part of the Events Management Team at Newport Aquarium. The position is on-demand with no guarantee of weekly hours, demanding flexibility to work weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays. The bartender plays a crucial role in delivering world-class guest service by greeting customers courteously and mixing drinks accurately according to customer requests and available inventory. With a focus on guest safety and satisfaction, the bartender must recognize levels of intoxication to uphold safety standards and maintain a secure and clean work environment. This includes setting up and restocking the bar, collecting and balancing money accurately, and adhering to the aquarium's policies and procedures.
This position requires a strong commitment to upholding the core values of Newport Aquarium, ensuring every guest has an enjoyable and safe experience. The bartender is expected to maintain professionalism and courtesy even in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and must be able to think quickly to handle the pressures of large events. Working as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision, this role offers the opportunity to improve bartending skills while contributing to a positive guest experience. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and maintaining overall health to meet the demands of the job.
Benefits include flexible scheduling, complimentary aquarium access, discounts on food, beverage, merchandise, and candy, as well as educational opportunities through the Grow U program offering fully funded certifications and degrees. Newport Aquarium emphasizes equal opportunity employment and ensures compliance with federal employment laws for all applicants. This position is ideal for someone passionate about guest service, enjoys a dynamic work environment, and values contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on family and community.
