The Event Services Host position at Newport Aquarium is a unique, event-focused role designed to support the successful execution of various special events held at the venue. These events are primarily scheduled during evenings and are published three months in advance, providing potential hosts with the ability to choose shifts that best align with their personal schedules. The position offers considerable flexibility, making it well-suited for individuals who require adaptability in their work hours; however, weekly hours cannot be guaranteed. Importantly, this role excludes responsibilities related to event planning, meal service, or direct food handling, focusing instead on logistical and guest assistance tasks that ensure smooth and safe operations during events.

As an Event Services Host, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the setup and teardown of event equipment, covering interactive touch tanks, conducting property screening, and performing custodial duties related specifically to the events being held. The role requires a consistently positive attitude and professional appearance, coupled with proactive guest interaction to provide information about Newport Aquarium offerings. This includes maintaining a strong knowledge base about aquatic life, current events, and ongoing promotions to engage and inform guests effectively. Safety is paramount in all activities performed by the host, with an emphasis on adhering strictly to the aquarium's safety protocols and guest service standards.

Additionally, Event Services Hosts facilitate metal detection and bag checks during guest entry, work in tight coordination with multiple departments within Newport Aquarium to ensure clear communication, and represent the company’s values through excellent customer service and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation are essential, as hosts must often work independently while maintaining teamwork and ensuring guest satisfaction. This role also involves addressing guest comments and concerns diplomatically and following directives from the Sales Events teams and Guest Service Management.
