Job Description

Pediatrix Medical Group is one of the nation’s leading providers of highly specialized healthcare for women, babies, and children. Since its founding in 1979, Pediatrix has expanded from a single neonatology practice to a nationwide multispecialty medical group providing coordinated, compassionate, and clinically excellent care across the continuum of care. Their services span hospital settings and office-based practices, bolstered by their commitment to research, education, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives. Pediatrix is dedicated to making a positive difference in the early detection and intervention of health conditions affecting newborns and children, and they prioritize compassionate care delivered by well-trained healthcare professionals. The company values its employees as its greatest asset and fosters an inclusive, supportive environment with a comprehensive benefits package to support employee health and wellness.

Pediatrix is currently seeking a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician to join their team at Greenville Memorial Hospital. This role plays a vital part in the early identification of hearing loss in newborns, an important aspect of pediatric healthcare that facilitates timely intervention and improved developmental outcomes. The technician will perform hearing screens on newborns shortly after birth, working on-site at hospital locations. The position offers on-the-job training, including annual certification accredited by the American Academy of Audiology, ensuring the technician is skilled and knowledgeable in performing hearing screenings accurately and efficiently.

In this role, hearing screen technicians are responsible for preparing patients for screening, conducting the hearing tests, collecting and documenting all relevant data, and educating parents about the importance of hearing screening and early intervention. Technicians are expected to maintain patient confidentiality, follow hospital and company safety protocols including PPE and vaccination requirements, and ensure all testing results are properly uploaded and reported by the end of their shifts. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sensitivity when interacting with families, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Technicians must be physically capable of handling the demands of the job, including frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Flexibility to work weekends and national holidays is also required.

Pediatrix offers this position as an entry-level healthcare opportunity, ideal for candidates with a high school diploma or GED and current or obtainable CPR certification. While previous experience with newborns or in a medical setting is preferred, it is not required as comprehensive training is provided. The company’s commitment to employee development and wellness is reflected in their extensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, healthcare and dependent care flexible spending accounts, a 401k plan, and an employee stock purchase program.

As a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician with Pediatrix, you will be part of a respected healthcare team dedicated to exceptional patient care and early detection services that can truly change lives. This is a meaningful role with a direct impact on improving newborn health outcomes, backed by a reputable organization with a culture of inclusion, professional growth, and employee support.
