Job Description

Saxbys® is a hospitality company renowned for its vibrant menu and its mission to Make Life Better®. The company is fiercely dedicated to social impact in the communities it serves, viewing its people as its greatest asset. Rather than seeking employees for temporary positions, Saxbys aims to build long-term careers for its teammates. Saxbys functions as a national education company that operates "For Students, By Students" cafes on college campuses, creating individualized academic partnerships with universities. Through its experiential learning platform (E.L.P.®), Saxbys empowers young people to prepare them for shaping the future of the business world. This platform offers exceptional paid experiential learning opportunities, making it a unique blend of hospitality and education.

The role of New Market Cafe Manager at Saxbys is an exciting opportunity for those passionate about hospitality, community engagement, and leadership development. This position will be the spearhead of the company's first-ever cafe in Arlington, Texas, specifically at the University of Texas, Arlington, opening in fall 2026. The manager will be responsible for ensuring that the flagship cafe becomes a beloved community hub and lives up to Saxbys' mission of inspiring and nurturing communities. This leadership role goes beyond the operational duties of a cafe manager; it involves cultivating a vibrant culture that reflects Saxbys' standards for hospitality, inclusivity, and social impact.

The New Market Cafe Manager will be deeply involved from the early stages of the cafe's development, including recruiting and training staff, through to comprehensive leadership training and ongoing performance coaching. This role requires an individual who is a natural leader with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a team to deliver exceptional guest experiences. The manager will coordinate training sessions, manage ServSafe certification, and function as a servant leader by working alongside their team, providing tools, clear goals, and motivation.

Key responsibilities also include building and nurturing community relationships to integrate the Saxbys cafe into the local and student communities, driving sales through outreach initiatives, and supporting Saxbys' social impact mission. Financial management is another critical component, with responsibilities ranging from budget management to analyzing profit and loss statements to ensure the cafe's operational success.

On the operational side, this leader will ensure the cafe adheres to Saxbys' standard operating procedures, maintains a safe and inclusive work environment, and manages day-to-day operations including cash handling, scheduling, inventory control, and maintaining cleanliness standards. This role serves as a liaison between Saxbys headquarters and the cafe team, embodying the company’s mission and values in all interactions.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making a difference both in the workplace and the community. They are innovative, adaptable, community-oriented, hospitality-focused, financially savvy, and ready to take ownership of the cafe's success. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to combine their love for hospitality with a passion for education and social impact, contributing meaningfully to both the community and the future leaders Saxbys aims to develop.
