Job Description
Banner Health is a leading non-profit health system based in the United States, known for delivering comprehensive healthcare services and fostering a supportive environment for its employees. With numerous facilities across multiple states, Banner Health emphasizes innovation, quality care, and professional development. The organization is recognized for its commitment to nursing excellence and has earned the highest accreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). This recognition is a testament to Banner Health's dedication to providing outstanding training and growth opportunities for its nursing staff. Banner Health operates various hospitals and outpatient centers specializing in different medical fields, including surgical, orthopedic, neurological, and behavioral health disciplines.
The New Graduate RN Residency Program at Banner Health, offered in Greeley, Colorado, provides new nursing graduates with an exceptional opportunity to transition smoothly from academic preparation to professional nursing practice. This full-time position is designed specifically for recent graduates or nurses with less than 12 months of RN experience. The program operates within an innovative and supportive learning environment where participants are clinically mentored by experienced unit staff and educators. This residency program focuses on developing a competent, confident, and skilled nursing workforce by refining clinical skills, expanding nursing knowledge, and supporting the personal and professional growth of new nurses.
Participants in the New Nurse Experience (NNE) program are placed in specific units, such as the Surgical Ortho Neuro (SON) unit, featuring a 44-bed capacity with an average daily census of 38-40 patients. New grads are expected to work primarily day shifts covering three 12-hour shifts per week, including weekends and holidays, with competitive shift differentials for weekend and night hours. The orientation includes comprehensive clinical experiences alongside preceptors, hands-on skill labs, training in the state-of-the-art Banner Simulation Center, and competency assessments. The program also incorporates learning modules, electronic medical record system orientation (Cerner), and resources aimed at personal and professional development.
Banner Health offers a robust Total Rewards Compensation Package for new graduate RNs, including health, dental, and vision insurance options, paid time off, sick leave accrual, and a 401(k) retirement plan. Benefits eligibility starts the first of the month following the start date. The organization values diversity and inclusivity, maintaining a drug-free workplace and ensuring equal employment opportunities for disabled individuals and veterans. Candidates are advised to apply within 60 days before their graduation to align with program timelines. This role provides an invaluable pathway for new nurses aiming to explore specialty units, leadership positions, or non-bedside nursing fields within the vast Banner Health system. With ongoing mentorship and access to numerous career pathways, the NNE program is an ideal stepping stone to a fulfilling and dynamic nursing career at Banner Health.
