The role of Neurophysiology Technician Certified is a full-time position based in Naperville, IL, with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, with weekends on an on-call basis. The hourly pay range for this position is between $35.16 and $54.50, depending on the candidate's expertise and experience. This position requires a candidate who is skilled in performing various neurological diagnostic tests, including EEG testing (Routine, Long-term/Continuous, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Ambulatory) and secondary modalities such as NCS/EMG, IONM, Autonomics, and Evoked Potentials (EPs).

The Neurophysiology Technician Certified plays a critical role in patient care by demonstrating the knowledge and skills needed to address the physical and psychological needs of patients across all age groups. Responsibilities include maintaining detailed logs and records, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies like The Joint Commission, ACNS, ABRET, ASET, and NAEC, and supporting clerical duties such as scheduling patients and managing communications.

This role demands a professional who acts as a team builder and fosters a culture of teamwork, positive morale, and excellent customer service, reflected in high patient and employee satisfaction scores. The technician will also be involved in investigating and resolving complaints concerning patients, visitors, physicians, and staff and assisting in interviews, orientation, and performance evaluations for new trainees, employees, or students.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in related field
  • College-level neuroanatomy knowledge
  • Competency in medical terminology
  • Ability to perform all neurophysiology lab testing modalities
  • Ability to work independently and resolve problems proactively
  • Ability to work well with external customers of all ages from birth to geriatric
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
  • Commitment to always treat internal and external customers with respect
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Registration in one or more neurodiagnostic certifications such as R.EEG T, CLTM, CNIM, R.NCS.T., R.EPT
  • CPR or BLS certification by the American Heart Association

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of college-level neuroanatomy
  • Competency in medical terminology
  • Ability to perform all neurophysiology lab testing modalities
  • Strong communication, written and verbal skills
  • Registered in one or more of the following: R.EEG T, CLTM, CNIM, R.NCS.T., R.EPT
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG T) - ABRET certification OR Registered in EEG or EP OR Certified Neurological Intraoperative Monitoring Technologist (CNIM) - ABRET
  • ABRET CNIM certification desirable by the end of the second year of employment
  • CPR or BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Job Duties

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care
  • Performs EEG testing including routine, long-term/continuous, epilepsy monitoring unit, ambulatory, and additional neurophysiology modalities
  • Maintains logs and records, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with quality assurance procedures
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as The Joint Commission, ACNS, ABRET, ASET, NAEC
  • Performs clerical duties including patient scheduling, answering telephones, taking and relaying messages, and filing records
  • Fosters a culture of teamwork and positive morale promoting excellent patient and employee satisfaction
  • Investigates, documents, and resolves complaints or incidents involving patients, visitors, physicians, and staff
  • Supports interviews, orientation, and evaluation of new trainees, employees, or students when requested
