Job Description
Providence Brain & Spine Institute (PBSI) is a leading neuroscience center renowned for its dedication to advancing neurological care through cutting-edge clinical services and innovative research. PBSI specializes in a wide array of neurological conditions, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), epilepsy, and neurosurgical and orthopedic spine care. As part of the broader Providence Medical Group, PBSI caregivers collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to offer comprehensive care and access to clinical trials tailored to the specific needs and stages of neurological diseases. The institute is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care that improves patient outcomes and quality of life.
PBSI is currently seeking a full-time Stroke/Vascular Neurologist to join the Providence Stroke Program in Portland, Oregon. This opportunity places the new physician within a certified Comprehensive Stroke Network and Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center, operating at two major certified hub hospitals in Portland. The program also includes a regional Telestroke network that extends expert stroke care to a broader population. The stroke team at PBSI consists of seven board-certified vascular neurologists and five board-certified neurointensivists, providing a collaborative and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will engage in varied clinical responsibilities, including inpatient rounding on the neurology consult service, stroke and telestroke call coverage, and managing a dedicated stroke clinic. This role provides the chance to work with an established team in one of the Northwest's premier neurosciences programs, which features specialized services in multiple sclerosis, stroke, ALS, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, headache, neurosurgery, orthopedic spine surgery, neuroradiology, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, neuroimaging, and gamma knife radiosurgery.
Portland, Oregon, offers an exceptional quality of life with a vibrant cultural scene, diverse dining options, and abundant outdoor activities. The city boasts strong community ties and a thriving economy, ideal for professionals seeking a balanced lifestyle. From the scenic Columbia River Gorge to Mount Hood’s hiking and skiing trails, Portland is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Additionally, as a top-tier healthcare institution, Providence promotes an inclusive work culture that values compassion and excellence while supporting career development and employee well-being.
Joining Providence Brain & Spine Institute means becoming part of a nationally recognized, comprehensive health care organization spanning seven states. Providence employs over 119,000 caregivers and staff across 51 hospitals and more than 800 clinics, unified by a mission to provide compassionate care to all, especially the poor and vulnerable. With attractive benefits and a commitment to diversity, Providence offers an extraordinary environment for skilled neurologists to thrive while making a meaningful impact in their community and beyond.
