The Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN) represent extensive network infrastructures essential to the Navy and Marine Corps’ communication and operational capabilities. The NGEN-R program is the largest IT services initiative supporting the Navy, integrating critical aspects of network operations, cybersecurity, service management, and data transport. Within this program, under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) segment, Leidos plays a central role in delivering the backbone of enterprise networks, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient connectivity for military operations.

Leidos is currently seeking a Network Enterprise Design Engineer Senior to join their Defense Group based in San Diego, CA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the security, compliance, and operational excellence of the Navy-Marine Corps networks. The Network Enterprise Design Engineer Senior will focus on implementing and monitoring security measures for communication systems and network infrastructures. This involves advising on adherence to established cybersecurity standards, government regulations, and operational protocols. The engineer will work closely with various teams to develop, review, and maintain procedures for host and system monitoring, perform defensive cybersecurity operations, and ensure server compliance with approved guidelines using tools like Marine Corps Interim Authorization Vulnerability Management (IAVM) and Tenable SecurityCenter.

A core responsibility in this role includes configuring and maintaining the health of complex data streaming architectures such as Confluent Kafka. The engineer will oversee the management of data ingest flows, supporting the underlying architecture that enables secure and scalable data transport. Furthermore, the role entails the development and execution of government-approved security policies, supporting incident handling, continuity of operations, disaster recovery plans, and conducting certification processes for information systems and networks.

The position requires rigorous vulnerability audits, submission of remediation plans, and patch management to maintain compliance within the Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) Division. Beyond technical expertise, the Network Enterprise Design Engineer Senior is expected to share knowledge through teaching, coaching, and mentoring peers and stakeholders. Effective communication skills are essential to translate complex technical information to diverse audiences, ensuring clear understanding and alignment across teams. This is an hourly position with a pay range between $45 to $55 per hour, reflecting the specialist expertise and critical nature of the responsibilities.
