The Network Engineer role is a contract position based in Austin, TX, offering an hourly pay rate between $45.00 and $55.00. This position is crucial for supporting clients' IT infrastructures amid significant corporate growth, with a focus on scalability, performance, and security. This role involves planning, designing, and evaluating new and existing computer network systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, and the Internet, while providing analytical, technical, and administrative support.
The ideal candidate will be self-managing within a small team, demonstrating a proactive approach by continuously seeking new ways to contribute. Expertise in managing, deploying, and troubleshooting Cisco devices, particularly Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Meraki, is essential. Additionally, experience with Palo Alto Firewalls or similar firewall technology is required, as well as strong skills in Microsoft Azure cloud networking. Responsibilities include setting up VNets and subnets, integrating firewall solutions with Azure, troubleshooting network issues, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and executives.
This fully onsite position requires excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently to meet organizational goals. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Proven experience as a network engineer or similar role
- Experience with enterprise network infrastructure and firewall management
- Knowledge of cloud networking technologies specifically Microsoft Azure
- Ability to work onsite in Austin, TX
- Contract employment eligibility
Job Qualifications
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches including Cisco Catalyst and Meraki
- Experience managing and configuring Palo Alto Firewalls or comparable firewall devices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure cloud networking including VNet and subnet setup
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
