Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services is a vital division within Amazon Web Services that is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. The team ensures that the cloud remains operational by supporting all data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, enabling AWS customers to have reliable, uninterrupted access to cloud innovation. This infrastructure backbone supports some of the most advanced technology systems in the world across numerous geographical regions. The AWS Infrastructure Services team tackles complex problems involving thousands of variables that impact the global supply chain, demonstrating a dedication to maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Joining AWS Infrastructure Services means being part of a diverse team of software engineers, hardware engineers, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. This team collaborates internally and across various departments to deliver groundbreaking infrastructure solutions that keep the AWS cloud running smoothly. Employees are encouraged to bring bold ideas and see them through to completion within an inclusive, empowering workplace culture.
The role of Network Deployment Technician at AWS offers a unique opportunity to build and maintain cloud computing infrastructure across multiple data center and colocation sites primarily located throughout the Americas. This position plays a crucial role in the deployment and maintenance of networking hardware such as routers, switches, and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) equipment. Network Deployment Technicians assist with troubleshooting fiber optic and copper cabling issues, create colocation remote hand requests, and support project leads to successfully execute network capacity projects.
This position demands the ability to work independently at times and requires excellent communication skills to provide status updates and work effectively across teams. In addition to technical responsibilities, the technician will participate in site audits to ensure all safety and quality standards meet AWS requirements. Physical endurance is essential, as the role involves lifting equipment up to 40 pounds, working in confined or elevated spaces, and adhering strictly to health and safety guidelines.
Travel is a significant component of the job, potentially up to 50% of the time, including local, domestic, and international travel to support AWS's expansive infrastructure organization. With a competitive hourly wage range of $27.00 to $48.00 depending on experience and location, this role represents an attractive career path for individuals seeking hands-on experience and growth within one of the world's leading cloud technology companies. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits starting from day one, such as employee assistance programs, mental health support, medical advice lines, and 401(k) matching to support overall well-being and financial security.
