The role of the NP Intensivist Medicine at Baylor Scott & White in College Station is a specialized position involving direct patient care in critical care settings, specifically within a Level III NICU environment. The provider will collaborate closely with experienced neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners in a team-based model to manage critically ill neonates. The position includes managing approximately 16 patients per shift with full interdisciplinary support from registered nurses, social workers, and additional advanced practice providers. This role offers a broad scope of practice including attending high-risk deliveries and neonatal resuscitations, hospital admissions, inpatient rounding, and performing critical care procedures such as intubations, lumbar punctures, arterial and umbilical line placements, chest tubes, and bladder taps. Additionally, this provider will manage ventilator settings, utilize cooling therapies (including body and head cooling), administer inhaled nitric oxide therapy (iNO), and participate in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) under supervision.

This position embraces new graduates, offering a structured 12 to 18-month mentorship and onboarding program led by Dr. Amy Brunt and the expert Neonatology team. Providers will have individual patient management responsibilities and maintain their own in-basket tasks. There are no travel or satellite clinic obligations, ensuring providers can focus exclusively on their worksite at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station. The institution boasts strong interdisciplinary support and encourages providers to hone advanced neonatal critical care skills while practicing to the fullest extent of their licenses.
