Job Description

The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and a proud member of the Feeding America network. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, CTFB serves a 21-county region with a mission to increase food access by providing nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through various programs, education, and innovative solutions. Annually, through a combination of direct-service programs and an extensive network of approximately 250 nonprofit community partners, CTFB supports over 612,000 food-insecure individuals. As a reputable nonprofit organization dedicated to ending hunger in the region, CTFB fosters a collaborative and community-focused culture that values service, integrity, dignity, collaboration, and innovation. The organization seeks mission-driven professionals who are committed to shaping a healthier future for their neighbors in Central Texas. CTFB has a vision to ensure that all Central Texans have immediate and equitable access to nutritious food, making a profound impact on food insecurity in the community.

The Neighbor Services Receptionist position is a key role within CTFB, acting as the frontline and primary point of contact for individuals seeking food assistance. This role requires a compassionate and organized individual who will provide excellent administrative support and customer service while facilitating smooth coordination between client entry points, including the helpline and walk-ins, and all Central Texas Food Bank client programs. Positioned at the primary front desk, the Neighbor Services Receptionist conducts client intake for the food market, manages helpline inquiries, and offers valuable information, screening, and referrals to support the clients effectively.

This role is fundamental to the organization's mission to nourish hungry people and lead community efforts in the fight against hunger. The receptionist will interact with a diverse population, embodying the values of the organization by being approachable, respectful, and solution-oriented. A critical aspect of the position is building and maintaining collaborative and meaningful relationships, not only with clients but also across various internal teams such as Benefits and Enrollment Services, Workforce Training, Community Nutrition, Food Sourcing, and Logistics. This interdepartmental connectivity ensures that clients receive appropriate, efficient, and comprehensive services. Reporting to the Neighbor Services Manager within the Neighbor Programs + Services department, this role demands strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. The Neighbor Services Receptionist is a vital ambassador for CTFB’s cause, serving as the welcoming face and trusted resource to neighbors in need. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals passionate about community service and hunger relief to join a leading nonprofit and contribute meaningfully to a healthier Central Texas.
